10 Foods You Can Safely Use On Your Hair

And when I read this article about rice water for hair growth, I could not believe my eyes! According to the article, rice contains inositol, a carbohydrate capable of repairing hair damage and protects the hair from future damage.

  1. EGGSOne egg is filled with zinc, iron, and protein. After using a clarifying shampoo, it is easy for the hair to lose some of its natural oil and protein. Using one egg mixed with a small amount of extra virgin olive oil, can help fill in the weak spots along the hair strand, making the hair stronger and shinier.
  2. RICEThe secret lies in the fermented rice water. The amino acid in the water strengthens the hair from roots to ends. It repairs damage done to the cuticle layers. It also provides shine. The water can be used to shampoo the hair. In order to get the fermented water,  you have to boil the rice first. You should separate the water from the rice and let it sit overnight at room temperature. The next day, add some essential oils to the water and use it to clean your scalp.
  3. ACV OR APPLE CIDER VINEGARThe Acetic Acid in ACV removes buildup from the scalp, making it a natural hair cleanser. ACV helps close the cuticle layers of the hair after shampooing. It has the ability to stimulate the scalp to promote hair growth.  It also balances the hair’s pH level.  If you use a clay mask or rinse, never forget to add ACV to the mix. They mix well  together and ACV balances the mix out. Using 1 part Apple Cider Vinegar to 4 parts water after shampooing your hair can do the trick. Don’t forget to rinse it out!
  4. WATERCRESSThis powerful vegetable contains potassium, fatty acid, and protein to soften your hair and keep your scalp moisturized. Blend it with some water and use the juice as a deep conditioner for your scalp and hair.
  5. OKRADid you miss my All Natural Okra Moisturizer? Okra can be used as a light gel to moisturize the hair and scalp. It helps the hair keep its softness by taming frizz.
  6. FLAX SEEDSSince Fax Seed is rich in Omega-3, it helps prevent hair loss by strengthening each hair strand. Omega-3 fatty acid also improves the elasticity of hair and makes it less prone to breakage. Check out the video below to learn how to make your own all natural flaxseed gel.
  7. COCONUTThe hair benefits of coconut oil are endless. Coconut oil is rich in lauric acid, which binds to the hair’s natural protein very well. It easily penetrates inside the hair shaft, which is due to its low molecular weight. Read my post here to learn the many ways you can use coconut oil on your hair. You can also use the coconut milk as a natural detangler.  Or you can do like my mom did, blend it with watercress and carrots and use it as a deep conditioner.
  8. AVOCADONothing beats a great Avocado hair mask. Avocado oil is used in different beauty products, by different companies, because of its nourishing and moisturizing properties.  I love to use Avocado hair mask after removing my extensions because my hair tends to be very dry and weak after doing so. Because it is rich in vitamin B6, Avocado helps with the transportation of oxygen on your scalp. It also helps with moisturizing the scalp and removing dandruff and other hair conditions due to the lack of B6.

9.BANANAS

Rich in potassium and natural oils, bananas help the hair retain its elasticity. They also prevent breakage and split ends. Bananas mixed with honey and extra virgin olive oil, can be used a natural deep conditioner. Just make sure you blend it well. You don’t want to have extra pieces sticking to your hair.

10. HONEY

From personal experience,  I can say that honey is great for the softening of the hair. Honey is a natural humectant that attracts moisture. This ingredient is more effective when used on wet hair because it helps the water get into the hair strand. For an all natural deep conditioner, add the desired amount of honey to a few tablespoons of yogurt, a few teaspoons of coconut and olive oils, then add the mix to the hair. Cover your hair with a plastic cap for about 30 minutes before rinsing it out
